Negrinhas / Tufted Ducks

Os números desta espécie em Portugal têm vindo a diminuir, possivelmente devido a condições mais favoráveis noutras paragens mais a norte./Tufted ducks are small diving ducks that can be found in Portugal during the Winter months -- although they have bred on an irregular basis before. The numbers of birds that visit Portugal have decreased, possibly due to more favourable conditions elsewhere in central/northern Europe.

Treze aves, no total. Talvez faça agora parte deste pequeno grupo de aves./At the Alverca salt pans, a small flock of Tufted ducks fed on a deeper pond. Thirteen birds in total. Throughout most of 2011, a lone female was seen at this site. Perhaps she is now part of this small groups of birds.
